Costa del Sol

Mijas
Drive along the main road of the Costa del Sol to Mijas and Gibraltar. A guided panoramic tour will be conducted, exploring some of the beautiful streets and squares of this versatile town. Continue to Puerto Banus, the most important and sophisticated yacht harbor of the southern Mediterranean, frequented by the "jet set." Free time to wander around this beautiful harbor with its exclusive boutiques, bars, cafes, and restaurants. Continue on to the white village of Mijas, where you can wander its narrow streets.

June 26 -
Granada Immerse yourself in Granada's rich history through a guided tour through this beautiful city. Begin by visiting the Royal Chapel commissioned by the Catholic Monarchs and built in flamboyant Gothic style. Here you will find the mausoleums of Isabel and Ferdinand. The cathedral stands next to the chapel and is considered as the first renaissance church in Spain. Continue along Gran Via passing the Gardens of Triunfo and Hospital Real, to reach the Carthusian Monastery, a Baroque masterpiece which began construction in 1505 and spanned over three centuries, highlighting the Sanctum Sanctorum (Holy of Holies) and the Sacristy. Continue to the old Moorish Quarter of the Albaycin where you can wander the narrow streets before reaching the Mirador de San Nicholas. From here, you can experience the beauty of the Alhambra, Granada and the Sierra Nevada. The Alhambra, the supreme monument of Arabic architecture, and the radiant summer palace of Moorish Kings,was nominated for the New Seven Wonders of the World. June 22 - Ronda Ronda is a prime tourist destination that combines historic and picturesque views with an active shopping experience. Things to see: Three bridges, Puente Romano ("Roman Bridge", also known as the Puente San Miguel), Puente Viejo ("Old Bridge", also known as the Puente Arabe or "Arab Bridge") and Puente Nuevo ("New Bridge"), span the canyon. Another important site in Ronda is the Plaza de toros de Ronda, the oldest bullfighting ring in Spain that is still used.

June 29 - Nerja Nerja is a seaside resort of sandy coves sheltered by the impressive Sierra de Almijara mountains and often referred to as 'The Jewel of the Costa del Sol'. The town is built on a cliff above numerous sandy coves. Places of interest: The Balcón de Europa, situated on a rocky promontory, is the focal point of Nerja, affording magnificent views up and down the coast. Included in the rour is a trip to the fabulous Nerja Caves – Cuevas de Nerja – is an absolute must for anyone visiting the town.

July 2 - Sevilla (overnight stay) Seville, in the heart of Andalucia, is the cultural center of the region. It was here where the flamenco was born and fighting bulls in the area became popular form of bravado. Seville owes much of its wealth and cultural heritage to her long associations with the New World. Your tour with a local guide will take you to see the Plaza de España, the largest Gothic Cathedral in existence (entrance fee included), the adjoining Giralda Tower, offering a panoramic view of the city. It will also take you the Barrio de Santa Cruz (the ancient Jewish quarter) with its narrow passageways undisturbed by centuries of peaceful existence, and the beautiful grounds of Maria Luisa Park.

July 3 - Sevilla - Cordoba - Madrid Depart Sevilla at 9:00 and brief stop on the way to Madrid in Cordoba to sightsee on your own. Things to see: Visit the Mezquita - The Great Mosque, Wander round the streets of the Juderia - the old Jewish quarter, and Eat Salmorejo, a thick tomato based version of Gazpacho, and Rabo de Toro, oxtail stew.
